Ian was born in Edgware, Middlesex. He originally trained as a Graphic designer. After working in-house for a variety of leading organisations based in London, he established his own freelance design business. His first love, however, is painting.
He alternates between two distinct types of composition: urban landscapes with vibrant, cosmopolitan street scenes and sharp-edged architecture, and calmer atmospheric, rural landscapes with softer colours and contours.
Ian works from his own photographs and imagination painting in watercolour and mixed media. With a realistic approach to composition, largely as a result of his training in graphics, he also accepts commissions for portraits of people and pets and is more than happy to consider most subjects.
